More about the Kitchen Doors Collection

Replacement kitchen door buying guide

Choosing your kitchen door is like laying the final brick in your redesign. It's the last piece of the puzzle to complete your transformation. Here are a few things to consider to help you choose from our array of quality kitchen doors.

Choose the material for your kitchen door

When thinking of the material it's common to get carried away by the styles, but that comes later. First, you need to select a material that functions as well as it looks:

  • Ash - Strong yet lightweight and shock-resistant, an ash door is a great choice for something that's going to be opened and closed a lot, like a kitchen door.
  • Laminate - These are an incredibly popular choice, perhaps because there is so little maintenance involved. Laminate is known for its durability, making it a great choice for a kitchen.
  • Oak - One of the great things about oak is how it complements most flooring options. Whether you're interested in wooden floors to create a contemporary kitchen or tiles or even carpet for a more traditional aesthetic, an oak door will fit in perfectly.
  • Pine - Another material that's great for absorbing shock, so if it's being banged open to carrying out plates of food to guests, or the wind simply catches it, you won't have to worry about it causing a problem. Because of the rate at which pine grows, it's also budget-friendly.
  • Sapele - In addition to being a hardy material, it's also rot-resistant, so you can expect it to last for a long time.
  • Walnut - This is another rot-resistant material and has great dimensional stability. It does require some maintenance though, especially if it's in the sun's direct path. If in direct sunlight, it can fade over time and will need to be retreated or painted.

Select your panels

Panels are essentially the different slats of wood used to construct the outside of the door, they are usually positioned decoratively to exude a particular style.

When shopping for new kitchen doors with us, you can filter by panel number. If you're looking for a solid kitchen door you have the option of none, or you can filter to only show doors with seven panels and everything in between. The choice here is purely about personal taste and preference.

Pick your colour

At this stage, you'll really start to feel things coming together. We stock a range of replacement doors in a variety of colours.

If you're looking for more of a traditional or natural look, you may be interested in a pine or oak colour. Or if you're looking for something modern with clean lines, you can't go wrong with a white kitchen door.

However, if you're in the market for something that's the very essence of contemporary, something in black, grey or even walnut can work exceptionally well.

Whatever your taste, there's a wide selection of colours to choose from here.

What finishes are available?

The finish you choose is an essential step in the journey towards a fabulous new door for your kitchen. We have three options available:

  • Fully finished - perfect if you're looking for something you can hang straight away.
  • Primed - Primed doors are pre-treated at the factory so it's a great option if you want to add your own touch without buying a completely unfinished door. You can create a unique and bespoke design or paint it in your preferred colour.
  • Unfinished - Unfinished doors are pre-sanded by us, but the rest is up to you; you have full control over what primer, paint or stain you use.

There's no right or wrong type of finish for a door, it's entirely up to you and how hands-on you prefer to be.
