Important Care & Maintenance Information:
- Sheltered Installation: To ensure longevity, this door must be installed in a sheltered area (porch, canopy, or recess of at least 1.5m) to protect it from direct sunlight and rain. Failure to do so may compromise performance and invalidate the guarantee.
- Not Suitable for Coastal Locations: Properties within 5 miles of a sea front are classified as being in a marine environment, where high moisture, salt, and strong winds can significantly impact the door’s lifespan.
- Heat Exposure Warning: Avoid installation in glass porches or areas with intense sunlight, as the greenhouse effect can cause shrinkage and cracking.
- Finishing Recommendations:
- Ensure any sealant contains UV protection to prevent sun damage (many clear finishes do not—check with your supplier).
- Dark colours should be avoided, as they absorb heat, which may lead to excessive shrinkage or cracks.
- The fitting of a weather bar at the bottom of the door is advised for additional protection.
- Ongoing Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect and reseal any cracks, scratches, or shrinkage lines to prevent moisture penetration.
- The sealant around glazing apertures may become brittle over time—if this occurs, reapply a suitable external-use waterproof mastic.
- Clean with warm water and detergent at least every two years and apply an additional coat of finish as needed to maintain protection.
By following these care guidelines, you can ensure the Ealing Rose Glass Hardwood External Door remains a beautiful and durable feature of your home for years to come.
